Senior Designer/Design Manager

 

THE ROLE

If you are a passionate, driven, and creative apparel designer then we want to hear from you. Reporting to the Creative Director, you will be responsible for the men’s and women’s Training + Transit categories. Working alongside our design and technical teams to conceptualize, design and produce purpose-built active product. Key focuses will include mood/trend research, design concepts, technical sketching, technical package builds in PLM and athlete testing/collaboration.

The role will work across our Training and Transit apparel categories, from brief and direction, raw materials sourcing, applied art & graphics. The successful applicant will be commercially motivated, quick-thinking with a knowledge of sportswear, streetwear, and cultural trends, both historical and contemporary. This role requires someone who can partner and collaborate with product and supply teams at head office and be very comfortable with overseas production.

Senior Design or Design Manager role would be dependent upon years of experience in either a Senior Design or Design Manager capacity.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Lead the creative development for Training + Transit category across multiple product types.
  2. Develop concepts and creative strategies that fulfill objectives of category, concept, briefs
  3. Collaborate with design and brand team to ensure holistic storytelling
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure both consumer and brand focus
  5. Direct variety of technical + creative resources (mills, factories, freelancers, etc.) on execution to ensure product and design excellence.
  6. Maximise results within given budget and timeframes.
  7. Present and communicate creative solutions with clarity, effectively selling in ideas to variety of stakeholders
  8. Identify opportunities of improvement and change, and initiate own proposals/projects.
  9. Seek out new manufacturing + design processes that can deliver world class results

 

MUST HAVES

  • Apparel designer, working with offshore manufacturing experience is essential.
  • At least 5-8 years’ experience in Sporting Goods/Fashion Industry at a senior level.
  • Proven experience with the entire design process (time planning, design steps, production)
  • A deep level of interest in exploring technical fabrics and innovative construction.
  • Interest in collaborating with 2XU athletes and brand ambassadors to gain product insights.
  • Passion for design, sports + culture

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • IT skills:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint: advanced /Outlook
  • Adobe Design apps: expert
  • Strong visual and verbal skills with the ability to create impactful/exciting visuals
  • Language: English: excellent
