Our Client:
Our client has over 700 retail stores, 30+ ecommerce stores and 30+ brands. They are a retail apparel & footwear leader through AU and NZ, stocking some of the most loved national and international brands.
The Role:
Reporting into the Group General Manager – you will be responsible for the Footwear & Accessories portfolio. You will be involved in purchasing a product range that is consistent with the Company brand and ensure that the gross profit dollar and margin are maximized. You will also have 2 direct reports in this role, 1 x Junior Buyer and 1 x Buyers Admin Assistant.
Main Responsibilities:
- Communicate and agree on range plans with the Group General Manager
- Collaborate with the Senior Planner on the brand build and strategy
- Propose a price strategy and negotiate with the supplier to maximize margin and present range for sign off
- Produce monthly and seasonal range plans
- Review and analyse previous sales and trend history
- Agree on promotions and offers with the planning team
- Review item sales and recommend appropriate action re markdowns/repeat orders/consolidations
- Writing and updating orders
- Work along the planner to ensure correct stock allocation to stores based on product buy
- Support visual merchandising and marketing initiatives Develop and maintain quality supplier relationships
- Provide weekly feedback to suppliers on performance of product
- Negotiation with suppliers on price, terms and lead time
- Negotiate penalties with suppliers for late deliveries and QC issues
- Manage critical paths to ensure the timely delivery of product to store
- Conduct regular Store visits to ensure that ranges are displayed to best commercial effect and to address and action any retail feedback or QC issues as required
- Monitor local and overseas fashion trends
- Conduct a seasonal SWOT analysis
- Monitor competitor pricing and marketing activity
To be successful you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role and industry (branded footwear would be preferred)
- Organised and adaptable
- Numerically sound
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel
- Effective communication with suppliers
