About the Company :

Our client is an agricultural business, looking to grow into the retail sector and is expanding in Toowoomba.

They are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to manage their accounting department. This role is a Full-Time permanent position located in Toowoomba.

About the role :

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, monitoring and analysing accounting data and producing various financial reports, establishing and enforcing general accounting practices, assisting with the budgeting process, developing internal accounting controls, and building a strong financial team.


  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department – Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable/General ledger entries
  • Manage all facets of Payroll – Data collation, data entry and payment processing
  • Create Onboarding documents for new and existing employees
  • Ensure all insurance policies are in place and up-to-date
  • Control the overseas ordering process for stock and plant and equipment
  • Maintain stock Costs and Sell prices in the accounting software
  • Preparation and Lodgement of Payroll Tax Returns in various states
  • Timely completion and submission of statutory reporting – BAS, IAS, Superannuation, ABS
  • Co-ordinate and complete Month End Close and Year End Close processes
  • Reconciliation of General ledger accounts
  • Monitor and analyse accounting data and produce financial reports
  • Assist with the preparation of Budgets and Forecasts
  • Support and manage accounting projects and initiatives
  • Continuously drive process efficiency and productivity improvement within the team
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and procedures
  • Ensure records are appropriately maintained and archived
  • Liaise with External Accountants
  • Liaise with Finance providers and large suppliers as required


Qualifications and skills

  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Retail background will be highly regarded 
  • MYOB software expeerince will be highly regarded
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to direct and supervise
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
